The Beginning
It was the spring of 2022, on what seemed like just your average Tuesday night, when Amit Tolani and Mala Karnani first connected in the most millennial (and possibly even Gen Z?) way - on a dating app! Mala had recently finished her medical training and was working as a neurologist while Amit was wrapping up his internal medicine residency. The two of them messaged, talked on the phone, and face-timed nonstop and even though they were separated by thousands of miles, with Amit in Washington and Mala in California, they could both sense that this was a unique and undeniable connection.
The First Date
Among the many things they had in common, one was that both of their best friends were living in San Francisco (special shout-out to Stefano and Shivani!) and Amit and Mala both just happened to be planning trips there soon - so what better spot to meet for their first date?! Despite not being vegetarian himself, Amit knew that Mala was going through a vegan phase (which has since ended, as Amit predicted...) and planned out a lunch date at one of the best vegan spots in the city (not to mention, he also made dinner reservations for the two of them just in case lunch went well... spoiler alert - it did!). Both Amit and Mala were slightly anxious to meet each other in person for the first time, but this feeling quickly turned into excitement as they ended up spending the entire day together exploring the city. Needless to say, this first date was a major success and was the first of many more meetings and beautiful memories created together.
The Proposal
Amit and Mala continued to bond and fall more and more in love over the next year. They enjoyed all of their favorite things together including traveling, beach time, high tea, Bollywood, and binge watching a good TV show. By the summer of 2023, Amit had popped the big question in Dana Point, California - in the most magical way, according to Mala :) He arranged for many of their dearest family members to be present for this special day, including some who flew all the way from Australia! Mala of course said yes... which brings us to today! The countdown is on and Amit and Mala are thrilled for this next chapter of their life together to begin.
